Whistler Ice!
Whistler has some great ice climbing located just south of the village at Cal Chek. A short 10-15 minute hike leads from the car to the ice climbing area. This a great zone for beginner ice climbing, improving your technique, and learning to lead on ice.
The cliff is about 25m in height allowing top roping or learning to lead climb. The ice climbs range from WI2 - WI4 depending on which line you chose. The far left side of the area has a fun mixed climb making a great introduction to mixed climbing.
Combine a day climbing here with a multipitch to give yourself a weekend immersed in ice climbing!
Itinerary:
Meet at Forecast Coffee in Whistler (Function Junction) at 8am. Drive to the trailhead, check gear, and hike to the climbing area. Climb until 3pm and then pack up and return to the cars by 4pm.
