Backcountry Skiing!
Intro BC Skiing is a beginner course. Learn about skins, how they work, and how to use them to ski uphill. This course covers touring basics, using risers, switching boots from touring to ski mode, and downhill transitions.

Itinerary
Saturday - Field Day
Meet at Cloudburst Cafe, Squamish at 8am. Meet your instructor and group. Fill your thermos with coffee. Proceed to Diamond Head parking lot in Garibaldi Provincial Park.
8am - 4pm
Pre-requisites
Comfortable skiing/boarding down blue runs
Skinning uphill 3km and 300m elev. gain.
No avalanche skills training required.

Goals
Choosing backcountry skis, length, width, sidecut
Touring bindings: how they work, switching modes, using risers, troubleshooting
Touring boots: ski/touring modes, stepping into pins, DIN setting, adjusting size
Touring uphill, using risers
Setting the skin track, steepness, breaking trail, choosing terrain
Transitions: stomping a platform, peeling skins, storing skins, switching binding/boot modes
