A granite incisor soaring into the sky!
Mt. Habrich is a sub-alpine granite peak soaring over Squamish and the Stawamus Chief. It has a wild and remote feel with very friendly access thanks to the new Sea To Sky Gondola. Even with gondola access, climbs on Mt. Habrich can not be taken lightly and still require good physical ability.
Escape Velocity is a fun, moderate route on superb granite. The route weaves between good belay ledges in 7 pitches to the summit of Mt. Habrich. All stations are bolted with rappel anchors allowing you to rappel back to the start. Views from the summit are panoramic in all directions and a camera essential!
For climbers wanting to complete this route with less multi-pitch experience we recommend a less committing Squamish Classic like Smoke Bluff Connection or Rambles.
Itinerary:
Meet at the Sea To Sky Gondola ticket office on Hwy 99 at 9:00am. Introductions will be followed by a quick gear check an then uploading into the gondola. Backcountry users can upload at 9:30am.
From the Summit Gondola station you will hike approximately 2 hours to the start of Escape Velocity. The climb will take approximately 3 hours. After summiting Mt. Habrich you will rappel the climb back to the start and hike back down to the gondola.
Expect to return to your car at 6:30pm
Total day = 9.5 hrs
