Elfin Lakes!
This is a beautiful hike on an excellent trail. You begin hiking in coastal old growth forest, rising gently into the subalpine zone by a series of well graded switchbacks. The trail eventually levels off as you ascenf into the alpine on Paul Ridge.
Elfin lakes are two small alpine lakes surrounded by glaciated peaks and flower meadows. Make sure to bring your camera or phone to take lots of photos. If you are lucky, you will be able to photograph Clark’s Nutcrackers, Whiskey Jacks, and the elusive Hoary Marmot.
