Incredible Alpine Rock Climbing!

 

The Bugaboos have some of the best alpine rock climbing in North America. Climbers from all over the world come there to experience the granite spires and glaciers. This will be the trip of a lifetime! The majestic scenery, alone, will create lasting memories and a burning desire to return. 

This is a five day climbing trip focused on the most popular classics. Our guides are Bugaboos veterans and know these mountains like their backyard. You will have the opportunity to climb classics like Pigeon Spire, West Ridge 5.4; Bugaboo Spire, Northeast Ridge 5.7; Crescent Tower, Lions Way 5.6; Bugaboo Spire, Kain Route 5.6; and Snowpatch Spire, Snowpatch Route 5.6 - among others! 

For this trip, you have the pleasure of camping at Applebee Dome. The location is spectacular with Snowpatch, Bugaboo, Eastpost, and Hounds Tooth Spires as your back drop. The trail accessing the camp is 6.5km long and ascends 850m to above treeline. Views along the way are outstanding.

Itinerary:

Meet your guide at the Brisco General Store along Hwy 95 the first day. Introductions will be followed by an equipment check, then driving to the Bugaboos Provincial Park parking area. Takes approximately 60 minutes (45km gravel road) from Brisco to the parking area.

Day 1: Hike to Applebee Dome camp
Day 2: Climb West Ridge Pigeon Spire 5.4
Day 3: Rest day. Take a dip in an alpine tarn
Day 4: Climb multi-pitch on Bugaboo Spire
(example: Kain Route or NE Buttress)
Day 5: Hike back to car

Note: Many options for climbing routes exist and can be tailored to your preferences.

 

Pre-requisites:

Prior experience hiking, mountaineering, and rock climbing. Carrying a backpack daily for multiple days. Good physical fitness to complete long alpine climbs.

 

Waiver

You are required to read the VMG Waiver and agree to it’s terms and conditions prior to paying or signing. Your guide needs to see the emailed waiver verification before participating.

Ratio 1:1 $3999 (5 days)

Ratio 1:2 $2499 each (5 days)

Includes: guiding, park permits, camp fees, group climbing equipment.

 

**Option: hire a porter for an additional $200 (Inquire)

Dates:

July - September 5 - Days. Pick the first day of your dates.


Equipment:

A detailed list will be provided in the registration package emailed to you.
 

  • Rock climbing shoes (very comfortable)

  • Harness

  • Helmet (climbing)

  • Chalk bag

  • Clothing (synthetic)

  • Alpine boots (ie. La Sportiva Trangos)

  • Crampons

  • Ice axe

  • Headlamp (extra batteries)

  • Water bottle

  • Food (5 lunches, 4 dinners, 4 breakfasts)

  • Sleeping bag (-3 c)

  • Personnel (ie. bandaids, sunscreen, sun glasses, toothbrush)

  • Multi-day backpack

  • 20 - 30L climbing pack

Note: VMG will supply any equipment you do not have (except rock shoes).
